July 29 was a wonderful day for the local community as the Burpee test garden at Fordhook Farm in Doylestown opened to the public.
George Ball and his team did an outstanding job. Young families were able to enjoy the day without dipping into the college fund and those of us with a bit more vintage appreciated the golf cart transport helping to save our steps for a lovely walk around the gardens.
Anticipating a muggy day ahead, the Burpee team kept free chilled water available throughout the property. And the kids’ crafts tents were cooled by a wonderful breeze.
Of course, the gardens were wonderful as were the educational talks and tips we learned along the way.
I wish Burpee, Mr. Ball, and his team continued success. Thank you for opening your gardens and your hearts to us.
