Kimberton Whole Foods donates $500,000 to charities

Posted

Kimberton Whole Foods (KWF) reached a donation milestone of $500,000 through its Rounding Up at the Register program.

The program allows customers to give back to local nonprofits in their communities by rounding their totals up to the nearest dollar when purchasing their groceries. KWF then matches all funds raised, doubling the total of its customers’ donations.

A company where community and service to others is valued, Kimberton Whole Foods strives to give back to the community that has supported its growth throughout the years.

In 1986, Terry and Pat Brett opened Kimberton Whole Foods as a small farm store. Kimberton Whole Foods has grown to a group of six, soon to be seven, independent grocery stores in southeastern Pennsylvania.

“Our mission has always been to serve as a community market. It has been our longstanding belief that, in order to create meaningful, lasting success – in business and in life – you must first act and serve in your local community. Rounding Up at the Register is just another extension of our mission, said Terry Brett, co-founder and CEO.

The Rounding Up at the Register Program launched in 2020 after Director of Operations and Facilities Ezra Brett was inspired by a visit with his family to a New England co-op.

Each of the six KWF locations features a different nonprofit every month, totaling 72 organizations company-wide each year. During June, all Kimberton Whole Foods locations will be giving back to organizations that promote art and culture.

“I am elated that our customers, through their daily generosity, have helped us reach this incredible milestone. With just a few “round up” pennies at a time, we’ve been able to send our united support to so many varied and deserving causes and groups,” said Pat Brett, co-founder.
