Josephine R. Hopkins passed away peacefully on December 28, 2023, at The Lutheran Community of Telford, Pa., where she received loving and attentive care. She was 101 years old.

Josephine grew up in Philadelphia. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary Josephine and Terrence Joseph Reynolds, as well as her brothers, Terrence Jr. and Claude Reynolds. Josie graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic Girls High School in 1941. She then graduated in 1944 as a registered nurse (RN) from Philadelphia General Hospital Training School for Nurses. PGH was the rst hospital in the United States. It was established in 1731 by the Quaker group, Overseers of the Poor. It closed in 1977. Josie was proud to be a registered nurse. She was committed to that profession for many years. Among the places that she worked as a charge nurse were North Penn Convalescent Home in Lansdale, Pa., and Foulkeways in Gwynedd, Pa., from which she retired. She also used her RN background as a volunteer for the American Red Cross.

Josephine and her family settled in Hilltown (Bucks County, Pa.) in 1953. She is survived by her four children: Craig (Hilltown, Pa.), David (Thailand), Terry Jo (Washington, D.C.) and Nanette (Englewood, Fla.). While raising her family, she was an active homeroom mother, den leader, poll worker and volunteer for township activities.

Josephine will be missed deeply by her family, as well as by many others who will remember her kindness, cheerfulness and warm smile.
