Posted

John E. McIntyre of Doylestown, Pa., passed away suddenly on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022 in Doylestown Hospital. He was 76.

John was born in Doylestown, Pa., to the late Charles and Grace (Palmer) McIntyre. He graduated from Central Bucks High School in 1965 and enlisted in the United States Navy, where he spent four years as an electricians mate. John served aboard the USS Halsey DLG 23 in the Pacific during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge, he returned to Doylestown where he lived the rest of his life. John worked as a natural gas mechanic installing and repairing gas mains and services for PECO and retired in 2005 after 35 years of service.

At the age of 15, John bought his first bodybuilding magazine at Kenny’s Newsstand and was hooked. He was a tall and thin teenager who wanted muscles. He joined the first gym in Doylestown and was on his way. It became John’s lifelong passion and enabled him to work as a personal trainer at Ann’s Choice for six years after his retirement from PECO.

John was always a fan of professional wrestling and lived his dream to wrestle as a “bad guy” in some local wrestling venues on weekends. He was also a bass fisherman.

He was the beloved husband of 44 years to Barbara (White) McIntyre; devoted father of Mandy, Shannon, Josh and his wife Renae; loving grandfather of Darian and Peyton, dear brother of Georgia and Bob.

The family will receive their friends at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 N. Main St., Doylestown, PA 18901 on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023 from 10-11 a.m., with a service to begin at 11 a.m.

Private interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to www.woundedwarriorproject.org would be appreciated.
