James R. Hoff, “Jim” of Kintnersville, Springfield Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospice in Bethlehem. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was the devoted husband to his wife Karen and together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage. The couple would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary in June this year.
Born in Abington, Jim was a son of the late Leslie and Edith Hoff.
In his youth, Jim was a graduate of William Tennent High School. At the young age of 18, Jim was drafted into the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in San Diego on the USS White Plains, a combat stores ship in communications.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Jim worked in industrial refrigeration for Merck, Sharp and Dohme for over 35 years.
Jim had many hobbies. He loved the Eagles, watching NASCAR and antique cars. He fully restored his 1966 Pontiac Lemans Convertible. Jim could fix practically anything and enjoyed working on his home.
Above all, Jim was a family man. His greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with his family. He spent many years involved in coaching his children’s sports teams. Family vacations were a must every summer. From going to the Jersey Shore to roads trips up and down the East Coast, he did it all. He was always the protector of his family and provided the world to his wife and children.
In addition to his wife, Karen, Jim is survived by his children, Nicole Seaman (Jon), Michelle Hoff, Curtis Hoff (Diane); five grandchildren: Zachary, Nicholas, Ava, Andrew and Owen; his brothers, Les “Buck” Hoff (Mimi), Bill Hoff (Sandy); and his brother-in-law, Jerry Yerkes (Linda).
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Edith Vandergrift.
