As it officially begins its search for a new superintendent, Central Bucks School District wants to hear from residents, students and staff.
A survey is available online for the public to share its thinking on the “traits, characteristics and priorities” it would like to see in the district’s next head administrator.

The results of the survey, which closes at 4 p.m. Friday, will be shared once the results are calculated, the district said.
The Bucks County Intermediate Unit will be helping the state’s fourth-largest school district in its national effort to find its next superintendent, the district recently announced.
“The Bucks IU brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in the superintendent search process,” said Karen Smith, president of the Central Bucks School Board, in a statement.
While the IU will work with the board in developing interview questions and scheduling interviews, Smith noted, members of the nine-member school board “are solely responsible for the selection of candidates to advance through the interview process and for whomever is selected as the next superintendent.”
In its search, the IU said, “the future Superintendent will be a proven academic leader, dedicated to expanding upon the standards and traditions that are the hallmark of this district. They will lead through the advancement of academic excellence and by ensuring that success is within the reach of all students — allowing each to meet their academic, social, and emotional needs with rigorous, engaging and innovative curriculum, instruction, and assessment.”
Applications are being accepted until March 24, with initial interviews planned for April and May. The school board has said it hopes to name a new superintendent before June 30. A community forum will be held to introduce the district leader once the position is filled.
Currently, Jim Scanlon is serving as interim superintendent, following the sudden resignation of Abram Lucabaugh following last November’s election that saw a Democratic sweep of the school board.
The district is also in the process of finding two new school board directors to fill the vacancies left by two Republican members who abruptly resigned last month.
