Hunterdon Harmonizers among groups to present evening of a cappella

Posted

The Hunterdon Harmonizers Barbershop Chorus, joined by Vocal Synergy, the new all-voice a cappella group and Ovation, Central Jersey’s leading contemporary quartet, will present an evening of a cappella harmony at 7 p.m. July 21 as part of the Hunterdon County Park System’s “Music Under the Stars” summer music concert series.

Presented outdoors at Deer Path Park, 120 W. Woodschurch Road in Flemington, N.J., the venue is free and open to the public.

The evening will include Broadway favorites and tunes from artists including the Beach Boys, Louis Armstrong, the Everly Brothers, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel and John Denver. The concert will conclude with a patriotic ending that celebrates the U.S. and encourages audience participation.

The Hunterdon Harmonizers Barbershop Chorus is an a cappella singing group that performs traditional and contemporary music. Based in Flemington, they perform annually at veterans’ events, community celebrations, school-based programs and provide entertainment for numerous charitable causes. Participation at this event – the county’s “Music Under the Stars” concert series – and their annual holiday show are highlights of the Harmonizers’ performing year.

Vocal Synergy is a community-focused, mixed-voice chorus associated with the Harmonizers that also sings without instrumentation. The group includes a mix of experienced singers and those in their early days of choral singing.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food is permitted but alcoholic beverages are not. Parking is plentiful and free. In the event of inclement weather, the performances will move to the main auditorium at Hunterdon Central Regional High School. Persons requiring accommodations should make a request at least two weeks prior to program attendance.
