Hunterdon County Library expands services with curbside pickup

Posted

The Hunterdon County Library system is providing scheduled curbside pickup for existing items on hold at both the Headquarters Library on Route 12 and the North County Branch in Clinton, N.J. The library will call patrons with existing items on hold to set up times to pick up their holds.

Freeholder Zach T. Rich, the board’s Library Commission liaison said, “The County’s libraries are more than a place to check out books or participate in attend children’s activities, they are a place which serves the community and before the global health crisis, brought the community of all ages together. By opening up our libraries for curbside pickup, patrons will be able to safely retrieve their on-hold books and other printed materials.”

The process of picking up materials will be done with safety in mind, including no direct contact between the public and the library staff. Staff will place bagged items on a table outside and patrons can then pick them up. Each bag will have the first four letters of the patron’s last name and last four digits of the patron’s library card attached.

Patrons also have the option to not schedule a pickup at this time and simply wait for the library to re-open to the public. No returns are being accepted at this time, and no fines are being charged.
