Hortulus Farm Foundation seeks community input

Posted

As it seeks a new operating partner who can further the organization’s mission, The Hortulus Farm Foundation in Newtown is asking the community for input as the organization shifts into the next phase of its long-term redevelopment plan.

The foundation will host a virtual Town Hall meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23; a link can be found on the Hortulus website, https://www.hortulusfarm.com/partnership-opportunity, as well as its social media pages. At that time, Jon Kontz, who purchased the property in 2021, with his wife, Ariel, will provide an overview of the farm’s progress, the vision for a new partner and outline the requirements for submitting proposals.

“We want to know what our local community members and regular visitors want to see here at the farm, and we want them to help us find an ideal partner,” Jon said. “... We are excited to evaluate all of the proposals in order to build something incredible.”

The Hortulus Farm Foundation is a nonprofit overseeing the Hortulus Farm Garden & Nursery located at 60 Thompson Mill Road. The gardens, which span multiple parcels and owners, were created by garden and event designer Renny Reynolds and noted garden author Jack Staub, and have been called both “one of Pennsylvania’s secret treasures” and “a garden of world-class charm.”

The Hortulus Farm Foundation was created in 2000 to ensure that this historic property will continue to exist as a public place of tranquility and horticultural inspiration in perpetuity.

The foundation will assess the proposals over the next month and plan to have a new operating partner lined up for the spring opening. For information, visit the Partnership Opportunity section of the Hortulus website and participate in the Town Hall. Submit questions ahead of the meeting by emailing questions@hortulusfarm.com.
