Hit and run death in Bristol Township under investigation

A 28-year-old man on a skateboard, identified as Joel Steven Moreau, was struck by a motor vehicle and killed in a hit and run crash on Haines Road in Levittown, Bristol Township, Friday evening, Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck said Monday.

Buck said Moreau’s cause of death was determined to be multiple injuries and his manner of death was determined to be accidental.

According to published reports, a red Kia sedan, reportedly spotted with front end damage by a witness Friday night, was found abandoned in a wooded area off Scholar Lane on Saturday morning.

The accident remains under investigation by the Bristol Township police. Anyone with information related to the accident is asked to call 215-785-4040.

Buck also reported that a pedestrian identified as 65-year-old John Affelt from Middletown Township, who wandered away from a long-term care facility, was struck by a motor vehicle on Trenton Road in Middletown Township on Nov. 1.

His cause of death is also determined to be multiple injuries with manner of death determined to be accidental. The police reported that the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was cooperating with the investigation.
