Posted

The Historical Society of Hilltown Township will hold two programs in March.

The first program will be held on Wednesday, March 22, at the Hilltown Township Municipal Building, 13 W. Creamery Road and Route 152, Silverdale.

Local author Scott Bomboy, a historian and preservationist, recently wrote the book, “Wooden Treasures, the Story of Bucks County Covered Bridges.”

He will give a talk on the history of these bridges, along with a slideshow of the covered bridges still standing in Bucks County, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 22.

The second program, an open house with the PA 71st Infantry, will take place at the Strassburger Farmstead from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 25. The rain date is Saturday, April 1.

Civil War reenactors will present themselves at the cica 1800s Strassburger Farmstead, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The ladies of the group will be sewing in the homestead.

The Historical Society of Hilltown Township Strassburger Farmstead is located at 407 Keystone Drive and Bethlehem Pike, Sellersville.

Admission to both programs is free; donations are appreciated. For information, call 267-614-9174 or visit hilltownhistory.org.
