Hilltown Supervisors approve Carson Helicopters warehouse project

Posted

Franklin Carson started Carson Helicopters in a shed and small, unheated farmhouse in 1958.

Sixty-six years later, the Hilltown company specializes in the overhaul, repair and manufacturing of major model helicopters. The firm operates out of tens of thousands of square feet of warehouse and hangar space.

Still, Carson has developed a need for more room for storage of equipment and the like. And that’s just what the company will get with a planned new 37,500-square-foot warehouse on its more than 50-acre property on Blooming Glen Road.

The Hilltown Board of Supervisors granted the necessary approvals, including preliminary and final land development, for the warehouse project at a public meeting on Feb. 26.

“They have the land and space to do this with no issues,” said Supervisor Chairman Caleb Torrice. “There won’t be manufacturing in the warehouse; it’s just for storage.”

No residents spoke in opposition to the plan. Torrice noted that one chimed in to share that Carson is a good neighbor.
