Herb Sale to benefit scholarship for DelVal horticulture student

Posted

Now’s the time to plan your garden oasis and the Delaware Valley Unit of the Herb Society of America would like to help.

The organization is holding an online herb sale to sponsor its Virginia Petrie Scholarship.

By visiting herbsocietydelawarevalley.square.site, shoppers can choose from a wide assortment of herbs, including basil, lavender, rosemary, mint, sage, oregano, thyme, tarragon, parsley, fennel, chives, lemongrass and more.

Purchases can be made now through May 1 and picked up at Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead Museum in Delaware Township, N.J. between 9 a.m. and noon on May 18. The museum’s address is 1605 Daniel Bray Highway, Lambertville, N.J. 08530.

According to its website, the Herb Society of America works to promote “the knowledge, use, and delight of herbs through educational programs, research, and sharing the experience of its members with the community.” It cultivates an international culinary herb garden at the museum.

Each year it awards the Virginia Petrie Scholarship to a horticulture student at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown Township. Petrie was a founding member of the organization.
