Guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter to rock Sellersville Theater

Posted

Perhaps most widely known for his successful tenure with Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers, Baxter has shined as a sought-after studio musician, collaborating with an impressive roster of artists including Elton John, Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, and Barbra Streisand

His fall tour brings him to the Sellersville Theater, where he will showcase his latest project and first solo album, "Speed of Heat," a genre-bending record featuring his signature guitar playing and collaborations with special guests like Michael McDonald, Jonny Lang, and Clint Black. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for the 8 p.m. Nov. 14 show at 24 W. Temple Ave., Sellersville. Visit the theater online, or in person, or call 215-257-5808 for tickets and information.

In 1972, Baxter began his association with Steely Dan, playing on their debut album, “Can't Buy a Thrill.”

Following 1974's “Pretzel Logic,” Baxter moved on to the Doobie Brothers, debuting later that year on “What Once Were Vices Are Now Habits” and continuing on for several more albums through 1978; he also frequently doubled on steel guitar.

Baxter’s general interest in technology led him into production, most notably helming several albums for hard rockers Nazareth.

The latest phase of Skunk came with his longtime collaboration with keyboardist and producer CJ Vanston.
