Golden Hawks soar into second round of girls volleyball tournament

Host Council Rock South opened the District One Class 4A girls volleyball tournament with a 3-1 triumph over No. 18 Haverford Tuesday.
The No. 15 Golden Hawks will play No. 2 Unionville in Kennett Square Thursday.
In another opening-round match, No. 14 CB South muscled past No. 19 WC Henderson 3-2 Tuesday in Warrington. The Titans visit No. 3 Bishop Shanahan Thursday.
No. 23 CB East also advanced to the second round of the tournament by upsetting host Perk Valley, the third seed, 3-0. The Patriots travel to No. 7 Hatboro-Horsham Thursday.

After earning a first-round bye, CR North, the top seed in the 4A tournament, will host No. 16 Conestoga Thursday.
In the District One Class A tournament, No. 1 Upper Bucks Christian defeated No. 4 Chester Charter 3-0 to advance to the finals, where they will face No. 3 Sacred Heart, who defeated No. 2 Faith Christian 3-0 on Tuesday. The winner of Thursday’s Upper Bucks-Sacred Heart game advances to the PIAA tournament.
New Hope will play for the District One 2A title after defeating Collegium Charter 3-0 on its home court Tuesday. The Lions will square off against host MaST Charter, the top seed, on Thursday, with the winner earning a trip to states.
