“Glenn Harrington: Recent Paintings” to open at Silverman Gallery

Posted

Nationally known Bucks County artist, Glenn Harrington, opens his solo exhibition this weekend at the Silverman Gallery of Bucks County Impressionist Art in Holicong.

Join the artist for his opening receptions, taking place on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 5-8 p.m. and again the following weekend, on Sunday, Oct. 8 from 1-4 p.m.

The Delaware River Valley and its residents continue to inspire the works included in this collection of Harrington’s recent paintings, as they have for over 30 years. His beach paintings offer another perspective on the figure in landscape, one that will be familiar to those who know Harrington’s work locally.

Known throughout this country and abroad for his stunning, award-winning portraiture, Harrington is presently at work on a portrait of Tiger Woods for the World Golf Hall of Fame. His inductee portrait of golfer Larry Nelson was unveiled in May at Jack Nicklaus’s Memorial Tournament in Murfield Village.

A collector and long-time fan, Patricia A. Roberts of Solebury puts it this way:

“Glenn Harrington speaks through his art. He is very sensitive to his subjects and that connects with people on an emotional level that transcends generations. I truly believe he is one of the most phenomenal contemporary artists of our time.”

“Beauty and elegance abound in the work of Glenn Harrington,” says another Bucks County resident, Kathleen Hiban. “These qualities can be seen in the graceful poses of the subjects in his figurative work, the flowing landscapes incorporating sycamore trees which he has a particular affinity for and his dynamic detailed illustrative work. He has managed to imbue these characteristics in such disparate works as a desolate street scene and the single branch of a tree. Things that might not typically found to be beautiful become so with the artistry of his execution.”

The Silverman Gallery is open Wednesday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sundays, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Other hours are available by appointment. Call 215-794-4300 for information. The gallery is located in Buckingham Green, 4920 York Road (Route 202) in Holicong (Buckingham Township). An online listing of Harrington’s available work can be found at www.silvermangallery.com.
