Glen Foerd’s Jazz Appreciation Month concert lineup features a diverse range of styles and influences. The free musical events are made possible by funding from The Wyncote Foundation and The Music Performance Trust Fund.
Glen Foerd’s JAM concert series will kick off from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 13, with a pipe organ performance by Dr. Jay Fluellen, Philadelphia-born musician, composer, educator, and organist/choir director. Dr. Fluellen will explore the sacred music of Duke Ellington with interludes inspired by the music history of Glen Foerd’s newly restored 1902 Haskell pipe organ.
Glen Foerd presents the Philadelphia Musicians’ Union Local 77 jazz quartet (trombone, piano, bass, and drums) for two performances, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21 in the gilded age drawing room of the Glen Foerd mansion, located in Philadelphia, near Bucks County.
Glen Foerd welcomes Jay Schwartz of Secret Cinema and guest organist Don Kinnier for a special evening of film screenings featuring “The King on Main Street,” also known as “The King” (1925), with live pipe organ improvisation in Glen Foerd’s art gallery, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, April 26.
