Girls lacrosse: Strong week for Rocks

Posted

Both Council Rocks had strong weeks as they entered break.

CR North beat Allentown Central Catholic 13-10 last Thursday. Five different Indians had multiple goals, led by four from senior co-captain Maddy Mela. Freshman Ellie Carney added a pair of goals and two draw controls.

The next day, North made short work of another District 11 team in routing Parkland 18-6. North won two-thirds of the draw controls. Cat McBride and Julie Ondria had five goals each. CR North (3-1), now winner of three straight, returns to action on April 15 when the team will make its SOL debut against North Penn.

CR South (4-2, 1-0 SOL) also posted two strong victories: a 17-1 domination of Quakertown on Friday and an 8-4 win over North Penn on Monday. Against Quakertown, Mia Schink and Liz Hearn tallied four goals each while goalie Kaya Mallon turned away 10 Panthers shots.

North Penn was a little tighter of a match but South went on the road and won both halves 4-2. Kelly Longmore joined Schink and Hearn in scoring two goals.

South hosts CB West Monday.
