Posted

GEMS of Bucks, an organization that provides lifelong learning opportunities that inspire engagement and connectedness among older adults, announces its Summer Program.

Its diverse range of offerings include courses in art, music, literature, history, politics, religion, wellness, exercise, and more. Community-building through learning and experience is its goal.

Registration is now open for GEMS of Bucks Summer Program beginning the week of June 12.

The focus is on mind and body health.

Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. GEMS will offer a course on History’s Mysteries on historical myths and legends, featuring speaker Herb Kaufman.

Ginger Solomon, yoga teacher and founder of Blossom Yoga & Ayurveda, will be teach a gentle-style yoga geared toward older adults at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday mornings. Beginners and those with chronic health issues are encouraged to attend. Modifications are given throughout the class to help attendees with reduced levels of fitness, strength, mobility and flexibility.

GEMS of Bucks is also adding Tuesday morning walks at Tyler State Park. The group will meet at the same location each week to walk, get fresh air, and to learn from a ranger about flora and fauna, ecological issues, and conservation and recreation projects.

GEMS Executive Director Moriah SimonHazani calls the organization a “hidden gem” for older adult programming. To give GEMS an opportunity to grow and diversify its programming, it will be joining forces with the Kaiserman JCC. “We want to develop a holistic place for older adults and serve them culturally, intellectually and socially,”

GEMS of Bucks offers classes and events throughout Bucks County, including Newtown, Yardley and Richboro.
