Garden of Reflection hosts drive-through event

Posted

A ceremony to remember the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks will take place Friday, at the Garden of Reflection 9/11 Memorial, 1950 Woodside Road in Lower Makefield, despite vandalism to the memorial site earlier in the week.

According to published reports, a large amount of soap, possibly dish detergent, had been poured into the fountain and crews were working to repair the damage.

The grounds include all 2,973 victims’ names etched in glass and twin lighted fountains.

This year, Memorial Park will be closed from 5 to 6 p.m. Sept. 11, for ceremony preparation for the evening event.

The Remembrance Ceremony will be a “drive through” procession starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11. The public is invited, and can listen to pre-recorded speeches from clergy and 9/11 family members up to a mile away via their car radio.

Those who are unable to attend can watch live footage of the procession along with the speeches on Facebook or YouTube, or on Verizon channel 20 or Comcast channel 22.
