G. Nelson Pfundt of Doylestown, PA died peacefully at home on January 28, 2024 at the age of 93.
He was born in the home of his late parents, George M. and Anna E. (Nelson) Pfundt in Churchville, PA and was a life-long resident of Bucks County residing in Upper Makefield for over 37 years. He was a 1948 graduate of The George School in Newtown, PA. For several years he was the manager and operator of Georgana Farms 1 and 2, a 200 acre dairy and poultry operation in Churchville and Richboro, PA. Later he attended Penn State University majoring in Engineering and Business Administration.
Nelson is survived by his wife Bette Ann (Perkins) Pfundt and was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia Donachy Pfundt and his sister Doris Pfundt Hallowell. In addition to his wife Bette, he is survived by two sons, William (Wendy), Scott (Vicki), daughter Lauren Meyer (Craig), a stepson Tom McKnight (Dawn), two stepdaughters, Heather Wilson (Michael), Denise Thompson (Thomas), and six grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren and twenty-two step-great grandchildren.
Nelson was Chairman of the Board of General Machine Products Co., Inc. headquartered in Trevose, PA. Over the years he was active in various industry functions and associations. He served as an Executive Director of the U.S. Telecommunications Suppliers Association, was a life member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and was active in civic and charitable affairs. He served on the advisory board of the former Central Penn National Bank, was a founding member of the St. Mary Hospital in Langhorne, PA where he was a board member emeritus. He was a member of the Bucks County Historical Society and a founding member of the Bucks County Community College Foundation. He served as Township Supervisor for Northampton Township for six years. He was a member of the Doylestown Country Club and was also a life member of Masonic Lodge 427 in Newtown. Nelson was a long-time member of the Board of Directors of the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown where he chaired the establishment of the Patricia D. Pfundt Sculpture Garden in honor of his deceased wife.
Nelson proudly served as Troop Committee Chairman for Boy Scout Troop 145 in Richboro from 1968-1973 and served on many Eagle Scout Boards of Review during that period. He was a member of the Bucks County Council, B.S.A. (now Washington Crossing Council) Advisory Committee and was honored on the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America as “Distinguished Citizen of the Bucks County Council” in 2010.
In December 1999 the Newtown Borough Council acknowledged Nelson and his wife, Bette, for their contribution to the Peaceable Kingdom Children’s Playground at Linton Memorial Park in Newtown.
As Executive Director of The Pfundt Foundation he generously supported many charitable causes, among them: The Boy Scouts of America, Doylestown Hospital, the YMCA of Bucks and Hunterdon Counties, the Bucks County SPCA, Heritage Conservancy, The Bucks County Playhouse and many more educational, historical and cultural organizations.
Until moving to Doylestown, Nelson loved to spend time on his Upper Makefield farm. He also enjoyed his collection of antique cars. He and his wife had many happy years traveling in their motor coach throughout the U.S.

A Celebration of Nelson’s Life will take place on April 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Aldie Mansion, 85 Old Dublin Pike, Doylestown, PA 18901.
Interment will be private.
