Fund public transportation

Posted

I am currently a senior enrolled at Bucks County Community College. I also complete volunteer work as well as working a part-time job. Because of this, transportation from place to place is a must for me. While some parts of Bucks County do provide public transportation, it is not easily accessible.

There are hundreds of students like me who are going to class full time as well as working a part-time or full-time job who also have no means of transportation besides public transit.

I am fortunate enough to get rides from friends and family members occasionally, but it is on a day-by-day basis and doesn’t always work in my favor. I do find myself needing public transportation whether it is by bus, train, taxi or any other transit that is provided.

As well as providing a reliable source to get from place to place, public transportation is also extremely good for our environment. Lack of access to reliable public transportation also helps fuel the cycle of poverty by making those who need public transit scramble to find a way to get to work or risk low wages.

Greater investments in public transportation would help not only the workforce but also the students who need the transit in order to further their education.
