From the Editor’s Desk: Reasons not to sleep on Tuesday’s primary

Another primary election is upon us and, while it won’t match the drama of what lies ahead in November, the Bucks County Herald will be watching a couple of key races closely on Tuesday night.

As you saw if you read Kathryn Finegan Clark’s front page story today, U.S. Rep. Brian K. Fitzpatrick’s bid for re-election faces a challenge from Mark J. Houck in the 1st District Republican Primary.

And Democrats will find out whether former Bucks County Solicitor Joseph Khan can garner enough support to emerge from a crowded five-candidate field in the race for the party’s nomination for PA Attorney General.

So whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, there’s a reason to head to the polls on Tuesday. And there’s a reason for the Bucks County Herald to continue the initiative it began a year ago to provide real-time Bucks County primary election results on Election Night (Tuesday April 23) and into the wee hours of the following morning at

There, you’ll be able to track those races and a couple of other contested primaries as the results are coming in.

We’ll also report from the polls Tuesday and have the results in Thursday’s print edition.

To get acquainted with the candidates in those races, I’d encourage you to visit and enter your home address in the “Vote 411” box to get a summary of the races tailored to your voting district.

This voters guide — and the traditional print component that ran in the Herald’s April 11 edition — is once again a project of the League of Women Voters of Bucks County.

Thanks for reading the Bucks County Herald. I hope you enjoy this week’s edition.
