Posted

Robby Porco was almost heavenly on Sunday.

The 6-foot-8 CB South standout and freshman pitcher for West Virginia (23-9) picked up the Big 12’s Co-Pitcher of the Week Award on Monday. In his second career start for the 24th-ranked Mountaineers on Sunday, Porco threw six innings against Kansas, striking out 12 and allowing just a single earned run in a 9-2 win. He allowed only four Jayhawks to reach via hit or strikeout.

Porco improved to 4-1, and has struck out 30 in 23.1 innings pitched. He lowered his ERA to 2.87 over his last six outings.
