Frenchtown Bookshop presents leadership expert

Posted

The Frenchtown Bookshop, 28 Bridge St., Frenchtown, N.J., will welcome organizational consultant and author Ashley Goodall, at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, as he reads from his new book, “The Problem With Change,” which argues that constant workplace disruption and change hurts business productivity and employee motivation.

Goodall has spent his career exploring large organizations from the inside, most recently as a senior vice president, Methods and Intelligence, at Cisco. His bestselling book “Nine Lies About Work” (with co-author Marcus Buckingham) is subtitled “A Freethinking Leader’s Guide to the Real World.”

In his new book, “The Problem With Change,” he shows that constant change is not productive to organizations, and in fact causes needless upheaval, uncertainty, and unease. The problem with change, Goodall argues, is that a culture where everything from people to processes to strategic priorities are constantly in flux exerts a psychological toll that undermines motivation, productivity, and quality. And yet so accustomed are we to constant churn that we have become numb to its very real consequences.

The author will read from and sign his book. The event is free and all are welcome.
