Frenchtown Bookshop presents Amish Soul Food dinner

Posted

Frenchtown Bookshop will celebrate chef Chris Scott’s new book ‘Homage: Recipes and Stories from an Amish Soul Food Kitchen” with a cozy Amish Soul Food dinner at the Canal House Station, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Scott, season 15 “Top Chef” finalist and owner of Butterfunk Biscuit Co., comes from an African American family that migrated from the South to Pennsylvania Amish county after Emancipation. “Homage” collects the stories and recipes of his family, which combine Southern Soul food with Amish traditions.

To celebrate his book, chef Scott will join diners for a three-course Amish Soul Food dinner, prepared by the chefs at James Beard-nominated Canal House Station in Milford, N.J. The menu includes: passed hors d’oeuvres and drinks; Hot Pepper Sauce Watermelon Salad; Chicken and Dumplings; Nana’s Cornbread; and Aunt Sara Mae’s Buttermilk Cake.

The ticket includes a signed copy of the book, dinner and a cocktail, and a talk by Scott. Tickets are $100 at frenchtownbookshop.com.
