Frances Levy Finkle, 95, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022 at Lakeview Pine Run in Doylestown, Pa.

Born and raised in Trenton, N.J., Frances lived for many years in New Hope, Pa., and Lambertville, N.J. She was a devoted mother of three children and wife of Abraham Finkle, owner of Jos. Finkle & Son Inc. in Lambertville, N.J.

Frances was involved in numerous community organizations over the years.

She was a member of Adath Israel Congregation in Lawrenceville, N.J., and a founding member of Kehilat Hanahar in New Hope, Pa.

She played tennis and enjoyed taking walks, wrote a human interest column for the New Hope Gazette, served on the New Hope-Solebury School Board, volunteered at Doylestown Hospital, and served as secretary to the Bucks County Chapter of Fox Chase Cancer Center. She achieved master status as a bridge player and was an accomplished Scrabble player and continued to beat her family members with high scoring plays even after the onset of dementia.

Fran was smart and funny, making people laugh until the very end of her life.

Daughter of the late Harry and Jennie Bernstein Levy, widow of Abraham H. Finkle and mother of the late Joseph Finkle, she is survived by two daughters, Florence Finkle, Rachel Finkle and her husband Sven Helmer, grandson Jonah Helmer and granddaughter Ava Helmer, nephew Richard Finkle, niece Carolyn Doranz Allen, nephew Jeffrey Doranz and niece Judy Levy.

Memorial contributions may be made to any of her favorite causes, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Doylestown Hospital, Fisherman’s Mark and the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad.
