When the cameras rolled Tuesday, Washington Crossing Historic Park was ready for its closeup as actor/reenactors filmed George Washington’s famous crossing of the Delaware River for Heroic Pictures’ upcoming movie “The American Miracle.”

According to its website, the production focuses on “significant events in America’s rise to prosperity” and the role that God played in the nation’s ascent.

Now in post-production, the film, which stars Daniel H.T. Shippey as George Washington, is slated for a summer 2025 release ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026. It is based on Michael Medved’s book “The American Miracle — Divine Providence in the Rise of the Republic.”
