Flemington DIY launches acoustic, jazz, bluegrass jams

Flemington DIY has launched a series of monthly jam sessions including jazz, bluegrass, and the more structured acoustic players.

Participants may also attend and just watch and listen. The space is all ages, alcohol-free, and is located at 26 Stangl Road, Flemington, N.J., in the heart of the Arts & Cultural District.

Monthly Open Bluegrass Jams take place on Third Thursdays monthly, 7-9 p.m. starting March 16. Participants of all levels are encouraged to bring instruments, tunes, friends, and refreshments (no alcohol). There is a $5 suggested donation. First Sundays monthly, from 1-5 p.m. starts March 5. From 1-2 p.m. the hosting musicians for the week will play. Other musicians will be invited to sit in and play between 2 and 5 p.m. (typically a minimum of two songs each, circumstances permitting). With the exception of drum kit and piano, all musicians should bring their own equipment (instruments, amps, drum sticks, microphones, etc.). There is a $3-5 suggested donation. Acoustic Players is Third Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m., next session March 21. This gathering is for acoustic players only; i.e guitars, ukuleles, mandolins and banjos. Chords and lyrics to the songs will be projected on a screen. There is a $5 suggested donation. Information is at flemingtondiy.org/acoustic.
