Festival to celebrate Ukrainian independence, culture and ethnic heritage

Posted

The Ukrainian Folk Festival 2023 will be held at the Ukrainian American Sport Center – Tryzub, County Line and Lower State Roads, Horsham, from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27.

The festival celebrates the 32nd anniversary of Ukraine’s independence with Ukrainian folk music, dance, foods and arts and crafts. Experience the vibrant, enduring culture of a people that fights for freedom.

From each paid admission, $2 will be donated to humanitarian relief of victims of war in Ukraine. Several agencies providing such relief will have displays and present additional donation opportunities for the festival-goers.

Tryzub (www.tryzub.org) is a nonprofit charitable sports, cultural and fraternal society and a supporter of the arts.

Exciting, spectacular, dazzling, breathtaking, exhilarating, spirited, soulful, enchanting, captivating, and intriguing – arr modest words which describe but by no means capture the essence of Ukrainian folk art, music and dance.

From the rich color and deep symbolism of the delicate “pysanka” (Ukrainian Easter Egg) to the thunderous, power, rhythm and strength of “HOPAK” – the exciting ethnic dance, and every brilliant “Kolomiyka” (polka) and soulful folk song in between, experience Ukrainian Folk Festival 2023. Enjoy an outdoor summer stage concert and show (1:30 to 4:30 p.m.), live orchestra music (5 to 8 p.m.), traditional Ukrainian foods and baked goods, BBQ pit, standard picnic fare, vendors’ grove, Ukrainian arts and crafts displays and bazaar, cool refreshments, Living Exhibitors of Ukrainian History and Ukrainian hospitality.

Admission at the gate only is $15 ($2 of which will be donated to Humanitarian Relief of Victims of War in Ukraine); kids under 15 are free; parking is free. For information, contact 267-664-3857 or info@tryzub.org, or visit www.tryzub.org.
