Fallen officers honored in service at State Capitol Rotunda

Posted

The Pennsylvania State Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, yesterday remembered its brave officers who died in the line of duty, during its 28th annual memorial service in the State Capitol Rotunda in Harrisburg.

Since 1786, over 23,000 law enforcement officers have died across the country, including 1,099 of Pennsylvania’s own. In 2022, a total of 226 federal, state, tribal and local law enforcement officers died in the line of duty.

Pennsylvania officers who died in the line of duty in 2022 were:

  • Trooper Branden T. Sisca of the Pennsylvania State Police.
  • Trooper Martin Francis Mack III of the Pennsylvania State Police.
  • Lt. William D. Lebo of the Lebanon City Police Department.
  • Officer Stephen Charles Plum Jr. of the Warrington Township Police Department.
  • Cpl. Chad M. Beattie of the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Each year during National Police Week in May, names of fallen officers are added to the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Yesterday’s ceremony included remarks from FOP President Joe Regan, Gov. Josh Shapiro and Attorney General Michelle Henry, as well as the presentation of the memorial wreath and resolutions from the General Assembly.

Families were invited to place flowers at the wreath in memory of the fallen officers and were presented with medals of ultimate sacrifice in honor of their loved ones and the bravery they displayed while protecting and serving the commonwealth’s communities.
