Edward W. Sweeney of Solebury Township, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 in the Doylestown Hospital Doylestown, Pa., with his wife by his side. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was 85.
Born in Abington, Pa., to the late Edward and Freda (Sowers) Sweeney, Ed resided in Abington, Pa., before moving to Solebury Township, Pa., in 1978.
He was the former owner and operator of Sweeney Autobody of Feasterville, Pa., for over 35 years. Ed enjoyed saltwater fishing, fishing tournaments and had a charter boat. He would fish in tournaments for Bluefish in Tuckerton, Cape May and Atlantic City, NJ. Ed took pride in caring for his property later in life.
He was the beloved husband of 64 years to Joyce D. Sweeney; devoted father of Sheree Battaglia and husband Jim, Wendy Cain and late husband Andrew, Treacy Brodhead and husband George, James Sweeney and partner Janet; dear brother of the late MaryLou Rauch (who is survived by her husband Frank); loving grandfather of Denielle Marsden, Lyndsey Flicker, George Brodhead IV and Noah Battaglia; cherished great-grandfather of Isla and Axel Marsden.
Cremation services were private under the direction of the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 N. Main St., Doylestown, PA 18901.
