Doylestown Lions summer concerts in the park continue

Posted

The Doylestown Lions Club hosts the “Concerts in the Park”once again this year – but in a new venue – the new Doylestown Municipal “Broad Commons Park” on North Broad Street adjacent to Doylestown Borough Hall.

The Doylestown Heat and the Central Bucks Community Band are scheduled at 7 p.m. Thursdays in July with a Grand Finale performance of The Doylestown Heat on Aug. 3. (Rain location: Central Bucks West Auditorium.)

For more than 90 years these summer concerts have been a Doylestown Tradition which debuted in 1931.

The Doylestown Heat was formed in 2007 by a group of local musicians who were members of a jazz band affiliated with Delaware Valley College. The Lions Club became the sponsor of the Heat with the goal that the band would promote the Club’s presence in the community and help the organization in its fundraising efforts for community service projects. To date, their performances continue and all funds earned go directly to the Lions Club.

The concerts are free and a nice evening out with family and friends. A collection is taken up at intermission, and the Doylestown Lions Club affirms that all of the proceeds resulting from the event will be used to support community charitable projects.
