For the second year, hundreds of people are expected to walk through downtown Doylestown Saturday to raise funds for agencies helping the area’s unhoused and awareness of the stresses of living without secure shelter.
The Coldest Night of the Year is a nationwide and Canada event that supports nonprofits working with those in need. Saturday’s walk locally will benefit the YWCA Bucks County, the Bucks County Opportunity Council, the Bucks County Housing Group and Family Service Association of Bucks County.
In 2022, Bucks County created Serving Bucks County Together, an umbrella organization to help the county’s many nonprofits collaborate.
The walk is a family-friendly event starting at 4 p.m. for a check-in and a 5 p.m. start for at the Bucks County Justice Center at 100 North Main Street in the borough. No pets are allowed unless approved as a service animal beforehand.
Participants can join a 2K walk or a 5K one. After making it across the finish line, walkers will be treated to warm drinks and tasty snacks, officials said. Depending on the pace of walkers, the event takes about two hours.
Last year, approximately 200 people joined the Doylestown walk.
