Doug Sardo exhibits at Stover Mill Gallery

Tinicum artist Doug Sardo exhibits “Pastel Paintings, Ceramic Vessels, Light Sculptures; Creating in Three Mediums” at the Stover Mill Gallery, 852 River Road (Route 32), Erwinna.

Well known for his pastel paintings, Sardo has over the past several years turned his attention to exploring sculpture. In addition to a collection of new pastel paintings his exhibit will showcase his work in clay and light translucent sculptures.

The works in clay take two forms: glistening blossom like vessels in jewel-toned colors and mysterious arbor columns elaborated with curious openings that invite exploration.

The light sculptures are gossamer creations standing four to seven feet in height constructed from branches of birch and olive trees and sheathed with translucent papers. Lighted from within, the sculptures glow, an ethereal, whimsical celebration of nature.

A selection of recent pastel paintings depict the landscape of the Delaware River valley in the moonlight. Sardo has also incorporated some of his ceramic vessels into pastel still lives.

Sardo will be at the gallery for the duration of the show – Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23-24, and Sept. 30-Oct. 1, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Thirty percent of the sales at the gallery are returned in donations made by the Tinicum Civic Association to not-for-profit organizations in and around Tinicum Township.
