Divided CB school board appoints former Tohickon principal to new position

Posted

The former Tohickon Middle School principal charged last year with trespassing and harassment during a domestic dispute with his estranged wife was given a new job with the Central Bucks School District for one year.

Kevin R. Marton was placed on administrative leave following the August 2023 charges stemming from his arrest at the Doylestown Borough home of his estranged wife. He later went on medical leave.

Charges of criminal trespass and harassment were later reduced and Marton, 54, entered a program for non-violent first offenders.

In a recent 5-3 vote, with board member Jenine Zdanowicz absent, the school directors approved a newly created position for Marton as supervisor on special assignment in the operations department. He starts on July 1.

Board members Rick Haring, Heather Reynolds and Susan Gibson opposed the deal.

The employment agreement provides Marton with the nearly $170,000 salary he earned as a principal and his full benefits. Additionally, Marton must retire at the end of 2024-2025 school year, said board president Karen Smith.

Acting principal Kyle Dudley was appointed Tohickon’s principal.
