Delaware art gallery features Emily Thompson’s paintings

Posted

Bucks County artist Emily Thompson has 12 paintings on view through Sept. 25, at Peninsula Gallery in Lewes, Del.

The show, at the Village Shops at Beacon Inn, 520 East Savannah Road, welcomes five unique painters who specialize in architectural subjects. “Inside, Outside” explores people’s interactions between buildings and spaces, using different artistic styles and mediums.

The work in the show reflects famous places, such as the skyline in New York City and St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. But most pieces pay homage to familiar places found in small towns around the world. From ballet rehearsals to ice cream dates, local diners and old-timey motel signs, these works will transport audiences to a new location not far from Lewes.

Thompson attended the High School of Art and Design in New York and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York. She is a nationally recognized, award-winning artist. Thompson’s pieces in this show are filled with surprisingly nostalgic buildings and signs. Her street scenes take viewers back to the years after WWII with their vintage automobiles and motels.
