County commissioners promote vaccinations with a sweet treat

The Bucks County Commissioners, seeking to keep the COVID vaccine momentum going, have enlisted an ally with exquisite good taste: “Ice Guy,” the Rita’s Italian Ice mascot.

Commissioners Diane Ellis-Marseglia, Bob Harvie and Gene DiGirolamo will be with Ice Guy outside the Neshaminy Mall at noon Thursday, May 20, to announce a partnership with Rita’s to provide $30,000 worth of Rita’s coupons to people getting vaccinated at the county’s five mass clinics, including one inside the mall.

The Rita’s giveaway is an example of Bucks County’s community outreach efforts to get more residents vaccinated. The commissioners and Health Department Director Dr. David Damsker will address the effectiveness of the half-million COVID shots already administered in Bucks County, the importance of fully vaccinating as many residents as possible, and some of the ways they are reaching out to those in reaching out to those in the community who remain unvaccinated.
