Concert series returns to Saint Andrew’s

Posted

The Gloria Consort, known for presenting Baroque music concerts, will once again appear at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 50 York St., Lambertville, N.J.

The group will start off the new 2024 concert series at Saint Andrew’s at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4.

The Gloria Consort is directed by Orum Stringer, who plays the voice flute, sopranino and alto recorders. He is joined by players Kenton Meyer, on the soprano and alto recorder and flute; Elizabeth Horn, on viola da gamba and alto recorder; and Mi-Hye Chyun on harpsichord.

This month, the consort will feature “galant” music of the French Baroque era, presenting works by Joseph Bodin de Boismortier, Marin Marias and Jean Jaques Naudot, and German and Flemish composers who were influenced by the French masters – Georg Philipp Telemann, Johann Joachim Quantz, and Johann Christian Schickhardt.

The concert series is planned by Michael T. Kevane, the church’s organist and choirmaster, and church officials Henry M. Richards and Mark W. Stewart.

Donations are always welcome ($20 per person suggested), as they will enable the church to continue its mission of presenting area musicians in a range of musical offerings – from the classical tradition, Celtic music, jazz, and other genres.

The next concert at Saint Andrew’s is on March 10.

Parking for these events is on the street. For information, call 609-397-2425, or visit www.standrewslambertville.org.
