Posted

The community is invited to join the Bucks County Coroner’s Office at the Unattended Veterans Service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, at 830 Highland Road, Newtown, at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26.

The Coroner’s Offices will be interring three unclaimed veterans:

  • Johnnie Jay Jenkins, Coast Guard (Subsistence Specialist Petty Officer Third Class), from Bristol Township
  • John Steven Magyar, Army (Private First Class), from Northampton Township
  • Richard McVey, Army (Private), from Middletown Township

During the ceremony, the veterans’ names will be read, and the Pennsylvania Military Honors team will present the flag on the behalf of the veterans. A rifle salute and live Taps will be provided.

After the ceremony, the veterans will each be placed in their own niche in the columbarium, which will be engraved with “Proudly Served.”
