Chris Vanelli steps in as Richland supervisor

Posted

Chris Vanelli, secretary of the board of the Richland Township Water Authority (RTWA), was sworn in at the July 11 township public board of supervisors meeting, by District Magistrate Lisa Gaier, to fulfill the remainder of Tim Ritter’s term as township supervisor, through the end of 2023.
Ritter resigned at the June 13 meeting, pending his move to Quakertown, which has now been completed. Per the state’s regulations, the township moved forward to replace him within 30 days. They advertised the opportunity on June 15, with a June 30 deadline for response, and received three letters of interest. Sitting supervisors Tim Arnold and Kathie Doyle agreed to select Vanelli, with Arnold noting, as a point of disclosure, that he was employed by RTWA as its executive director.
In addition to his RTWA position, Vanelli was noted as having 25 years of community service in Richland and with neighboring communities, including being named Volunteer of the Year in the township in 2003 and 2021.
