Central Bucks Rotary raises funds to benefit Shamrock Reins

Posted

The Central Bucks Rotary Club made a $10,000 donation to benefit Shamrock Reins at its meeting Tuesday, July 19.

The donation was raised through CB Rotary’s summer “Bourbon and Cigars” fundraiser held in May and hosted by Rotarian Jake Taylor at his home in Doylestown. The event was attended by 75 local supporters and featured an array of unique bourbons, fine cigars and handcrafted cocktails.

State Rep. Todd Polinchock, a United States Naval Academy graduate and combat pilot veteran, was on hand to honor Shamrock Reins and stated, “Our veterans, first responders and the families of our fallen heroes deal with unimaginable trauma and post-traumatic stress brought on by their selfless service to our country and communities. Shamrock Reins, through their unique and innovative equestrian programs, provides a safe place for them to learn how to cope and deal with those debilitating things in its lives. The facility is a blessing and I am honored to play even a small role in bringing awareness to such a special place.”

Central Bucks Rotary President Pam Northrop noted, “Central Bucks Rotary is committed to supporting meaningful organizations that improve the lives of others. By providing Equine Assisted Activities and therapy Shamrock Reins is making a difference by healing veterans, first responders and other service members and we are grateful to support their efforts.”

Shamrock Reins is a nonprofit organization based in Pipersville that was founded and is run by Janet Brennan. Its mission is contribute to life-changing experiences for all participants (veterans, active duty and reserve service members, first responders and their families) through an environment of safety, both physical and emotional, that will enable recovery and promote improved feelings of well-being through it’s horses and therapists.

The Central Bucks Rotary meets most Tuesday evenings at The Plumsteadville Inn from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. For information, visit https://centralbucksrotary.com/.
