CB West’s Timberg wins NCAA gold

Posted

Rutgers All-American junior pole vaulter Chloe Timberg won the NCAA outdoor pole vaulting championship on Thursday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Timberg’s winning jump of 4.71m (15 feet, 5.5 inches) was the third best in NCAA history and both a new meet and Rutgers record.

Timberg’s gold is the first Rutgers women’s track and field championship in program history. Timberg had already earned an invite to the U.S. Olympic Trials on June 28.

The gold highlights an outstanding season for the Central Bucks West and Doylestown standout. Timberg was named the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Year in March after setting the conference indoor record. She won a bronze at the NCAA indoor nationals in March.

As a prepster, Timberg was the first Pennsylvania girl to clear 14 feet.

The Herald profiled Timberg in its July 6, 2023 edition. You can read more about Timberg’s story here.
