Canal water level to be lowered for maintenance

Posted

Delaware Canal State Park is planning for a maintenance drawdown of the canal beginning Friday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

The canal will be drawn down to perform debris removal and other work associated with the July 15 storm event.

The work will take place at multiple locations in New Hope and Upper Makefield. The canal will be “dewatered” from New Hope to Bristol and some related canal trail closures may take place.

Water will be reintroduced to the canal once the work is finished.
