Bucks presents private pilot ground school training

Bucks County Community College is offering Private Pilot Ground School Training at both its Upper Bucks and Newtown campuses starting in early February.

The course, which meets once a week for eight weeks, provides the necessary knowledge to take the FAA’s written exam to become a private pilot. Topics covered include aircraft systems, aerodynamics, flight instruments, navigation, weather, flight planning, regulations, and airspace.

Free information sessions to explain more about the course and what opportunities it may lead to in the field of aviation careers are set for 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Newtown Campus, 275 Swamp Road, Newtown, and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Upper Bucks Campus, One Hillendale Road, Perkasie.

Students must be 15 years old prior to the start of the class. The course meets from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 2 to March 23, at the Upper Bucks Campus. Another section meets 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 to March 25, at the Newtown Campus.

Tuition is $549. Those who enroll at an information session receive a 10 percent discount on tuition.
