Bucks County Foundation for Aging names new board, seeks volunteers

Posted

The Bucks County Foundation for Aging (BCFA) has named its new board of directors.

Members are: president, Paula Hoff; vice president, Mary Ellen Gummer; treasurer, Jill Sporer; and secretary, John Small. Dianne C. Magee also joins Kathy Bennett, Carol Boyle, Bill McTigue, and Carin Tinney to complete the board.

Started in 2004, the Bucks County Foundation for Aging is a Doylestown-based nonprofit organization that helps older adults enjoy the benefits of healthfully aging in place. Working in collaboration with the Bucks County Area Agency for Aging (BCAAA), the foundation raises funds to aid the BCAAA in providing services for which restricted funds cannot be used. BCAAA services include but are not limited to care management, Medicare counseling, home delivered meals, in-home care, health promotion classes, grocery shopping, legal assistance, investigation of elder abuse, and the Ombudsman Program that works on behalf of residents in long-term care facilities.

To receive help, seniors who are in need of assistance must first contact the BCAAA at 267-880-5700.

The BCFA raises and uses funding to support the BCAAA staff in meeting the needs of seniors. The support from the public helps ensure the well-being of the older adults the BCFA cares for today and will be called upon to care for tomorrow.

To complete its mission, volunteers are needed for fundraising activities and events. If interested in volunteering, visit buckscountyfoundationforaging.com  and leave your information on the contact page.

Donations also are needed and accepted, and can be mailed to Bucks County Foundation for Aging, PO Box 1806, Doylestown, Pa. 18901 or can be made through the BCFA website.
