Bucks DA, Bristol Township police provide details about fatal hit-run crash

Posted

At a news conference Monday, Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub urged the driver who fled the scene following Sunday’s fatal hit and run crash in Bristol Township to turn himself in.

Jason Smith, 47, of Levittown, was struck by a Chevrolet pickup truck in the parking lot of the McDonald’s at 7700 Bristol Pike in Levittown at 4:08 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5.

The driver of the pickup truck then exited the parking lot and drove down Route 13 toward Tullytown. Smith was transported by a Bucks County Rescue Squad ambulance to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, dying of injuries to his chest, Weintraub said.

Before being struck, Smith and the driver of the truck were involved in some type of brief altercation in the parking lot, Weintraub said.

The pickup truck is a gray Chevrolet, possibly a 2013 Silverado with a front vanity plate. The truck may be missing an oval-shaped black plastic trim piece, described as an end cap for the driver side running board.

The Bristol Township Police Department and the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office are asking for the public’s help in locating the truck. Anyone with information is asked to contact, Bristol Township Detective Patrick Kitchenman of The Bristol Township Police Department at 267-812-3056 or pkitchenman160@bristolpd.org, or Bucks County Detectives at 215-348-6354 or www.BucksDA.org.
