PA Department of Health provides update on COVID-19 – 426 new positives bring statewide total to 129,474
The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed as of noon, Aug. 22 that there are 426 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 129,474. All 67 counties in Pennsylvania have cases of COVID19. There are 7,579 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 1 new death reported.
The number of tests administered within the last 7 days between August 17 and August 23 is 157,052 with 4,588 positive cases. There were 14,973 test results reported to the department through 10 p.m., August 23. These results represent the total number of tests administered.
There are 645 patients who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure, which are considered probable cases and not confirmed cases. There are 1,433,364 patients who have tested negative to date.
Mask-wearing is required in all businesses and whenever leaving home. Consistent mask-wearing is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19.

New Jersey cases total 189,494
The New Jersey Department of Health announced that as of Aug. 24 there are 189,494 cases of COVID-19. There are 8,267 Mercer County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 and 585 people have died. In Mercer County, there are 6 new cases and also 39 probable deaths from COVID-19. Hunterdon County reports 1,192 cases and 70 confirmed deaths plus 54 probable deaths from COVID-19. There are 2 new cases in Hunterdon County.
