PA Department of Health provides update on COVID-19 – 570 new positives bring statewide total to 126,149
The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed as of noon, Aug. 19 that there are 570 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 126,149. All 67 counties in Pennsylvania have cases of COVID-19 There are 7,523 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 24 new deaths reported.
Philadelphia reported 208 cases – a two-day total for August 17 and August 18.
The number of tests administered within the last 7 days between August 12 and August 18 is 159,689 with 5,298 positive cases. There were 21,835 test results reported to the department through 10 p.m., August 18. These results represent the total number of tests administered.
There are 644 patients who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure, which are considered probable cases and not confirmed cases. There are 1,368,318 patients who have tested negative to date.
Mask-wearing is required in all businesses and whenever leaving home. Consistent mask-wearing is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19.

New Jersey cases total 188,098
The New Jersey Department of Health announced that as of Aug. 19 there are 188,098 cases of COVID-19. There are 8,211 Mercer County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 and 584 people have died. In Mercer County, there are 11 new cases and also 39 probable deaths from COVID-19. Hunterdon County reports 1,165 cases and 70 confirmed deaths plus 54 probable deaths from COVID-19. There are 2 new cases in Hunterdon County.
The transmission rate for New Jersey is 1.05.
