Bucks County Community College names 3 finalists for president’s job

Posted

Three finalists have emerged from a 75-candidate field for the job of leading Bucks County Community College.

They are John C. Boyd, Ph.D., President, Mayland Community College; Patrick M. Jones, Ph.D., Chancellor and Professor of Music, Penn State Schuylkill; and Evon Washington Walters, Ed.D., President, Northwest Region, Community College of Allegheny County.

A search committee appointed by the Bucks County Community College Board of Trustees following Dr. Felicia Ganther’s unexpected mid-October resignation as president, effective last December. This week, it named the finalists to become the college’s sixth president.

The trustees had retained RH Perry, a search firm specializing in higher education, to conduct a nationwide search. The board had to act swiftly in order to have the executive in place by July 1, the start of BCCC’s academic and fiscal years.

The three candidates will now take part in the final round of the presidential search process, which includes open forums conducted in person and available virtually with faculty, staff and students.

The finalists will visit the BCCC Newtown campus on Feb. 26, March 4 and March 7.

“We are looking forward to these face-to-face meetings with the candidates in the coming weeks,” Board Chair Thomas Jennings stated. “Each candidate has amassed significant accomplishments in their higher education careers to date. We are excited to learn about their vision and aspirations for Bucks and the communities we serve.”

After receiving feedback from the college community, the Presidential Search Committee will make a final recommendation to the BCCC Board of Trustees, which will have the last word.
